CBS records in Africa in the early 1980's were licensed through the Gramophone Record Company (GRC) who were taken over in 1985 by the Gallo Africa Company. The merged company initially changed their name to Gallo - GRC and then finally Gallo Record Company (also GRC).
GRC were the main manufacturing and distribution company in Zimbabwe and South Africa where a lot of the releases were manufactured using recycled materials which led to low some quailty sleeves and printing of labels.
Zimbabwean records can be identified by the printing of a classification code on the record labels such as "4 INT." or "4 Int." which functioned as the price code for internationally imported content. This code helped customs and retailers to correctly categorise or classify the duty on records.
"4 INT" was an abbreviation of "4th International" which represented the code for a midline price product.
